End it in Boston

Pierce shows up for the first time in what 7 games and says shit like this after? That's what I'm fucking talking about. Watch the fuck out, Paul Pierce is back and he only spits the truth. This is the type of shit the Bruins should have been saying after going up 3-0. Let's hope it works for the Celts.

PS- Thank God this wasn't Sheed' after the game.

3 Things That Baffled Me (5/18)

1. The Brian Cushing Revote – Brian Cushing, a linebacker for the Houston Texans, won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award for the 2009 season, which was voted on in January. However, it recently came out that he tested positive for a performance enhancing drug (the same one that they bagged many Ramirez for last year), and the NFL decided to do a revote for the award. Cushing won the revote, but by a much smaller margin.

This same exact thing happened to Julius Peppers back in 2002, and they didn’t have a revote for his ROY award. One voter said it best, “If I had known in January when we initially voted that Brian Cushing had tested positive for a banned substance, I might not have voted for him. However, Cushing won the award in January, and I don't feel like we should revise history. I am concerned about the precedent.” I mean, if we’re having revotes, shouldn’t we revote on every major MLB award from like ‘96 to ‘05?

2. LeBron and the Cavs Give Up – I know he had a triple-double in Game 6, but was that not the worst triple-double you’ve ever seen? He had 9 turnovers, and he still looked passive on many occasions after his Game 5 no-show. And to top it all off, with the Cavs down only 9, facing elimination with over a minute remaining in Game 6, his team just flat out gave up. They didn’t even try to foul to extend the game. You think MJ would have ever let the happen? Not a chance in hell.

Let the “Summer of LeBron” begin. As much as I can’t stand listening to the media drool over the guy (who still hasn’t won anything yet), I am interested to see where he will end up. There’s going to be plenty of wild stories and speculation (a three way meeting between LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, and a packaged deal of LeBron and Coach John Calipari to the Bulls have already been rumored). Whatever ends up happening, it could change the landscape of the NBA for the next 10 years and beyond.

3. Bruins Collapse – A wise man once told me, “It’s better to be pessimistic, that way you’re either right, or pleasantly surprised.” Unfortunately, in the case of the Bruins, I was right. I saw this epic collapse coming in the middle of Game 5, where Boston got massacred 4-0. I knew they would lose the last 2 games, because that’s the kind of heartless, gutless performance I’ve become accustomed to watching from these Bruins over the years. This team needs a change at its very core, but I’d be baffled if it actually happened.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mayor Thomas Menino

BOSTON -- Mayor Tom Menino was at it again today in the middle of honoring Bruins legend Bobby Orr with the statue unveiling of "The Goal" outside TD Garden near the West Entrance.

The mayor said the statue captured an "ionic" moment, and also asserted that Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek was the field-goal kicker who pushed the New England Patriots to their first Super Bowl victory:

"Boston has an amazing set of remarkable athletes whose actions in the moment have become (sic) ionic in sports. Havlicek stole the ball. Fisk waved the ball fair. Flutie launched the Hail Mary pass. Varitek split the uprights. Today we honor one of the most brilliant moments: Bobby Orr flying through the air. Who could forget that play against St. Louis as the Bruins beat the Blues to bring a Stanley Cup to Boston?"

*Audio clip to be added shortly.

Time and time again Boston Mayor, Thomas Menino makes himself look a total clown and time and time again the people living in Massachusetts continue to elect this guy as mayor of a city he knows absolutely nothing about. I flat out don't can't believe this shit. Varitek splits the uprights? Ionic in sports? WTF is he talking about. He is butchering, potentially the most important moments in the history of Boston sports, hell Boston for that matter.

Menino is an absolute babbling bastard who needs to go take some basic English and reading classes, learn how not to mumble then go watch a fucking Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics game before the whole city of Boston loses it.

You know Thomas Menino is kind of like that girlfriend who doesn't know shit about sports and every time she tries to talk about spor-- I mean speak, she makes your ears bleed and your stomach feel like you're going to puke.

What a pathetic piece of shit.

Bobby Orr Statue Unveiled, Mumbles Menino At It Again

40 years ago today, Bobby Orr proved that men could fly. Orr flying though the air after scoring the Stanley Cup clinching goal against the St. Louis Blues back in 1970 is one of the coolest sports images of all time. The Bruins and the city of Boston unveiled a statue depicting "The Goal" today outside the Garden. Easily one of the greatest moments in Boston sports history, Bobby Orr's statue was long overdue. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, who spoke at the ceremony, certainly understands Orr's place in history:

“Boston has an amazing set of remarkable athletes whose actions in the moment have become ionic (iconic?) in sports. Havlicek stole the ball. Fisk waved the ball fair. Flutie launched the Hail Mary pass. Varitek split the uprights. Today we honor one of the most brilliant moments: Bobby Orr flying through the air. Who could forget that play against St. Louis as the Bruins beat the Blues to bring a Stanley Cup to Boston.”

Varitek split the uprights? Varitek? Look out, Mumbles Menino is at it again. (Unless of course, by uprights, he meant Alex Rodriguez's face). Some might say that this is the perfect example of why politicians should really just stay out of the way when it comes to sports. But to me, this is just another example of Mumbles Menino being a clown.

Michael Felger Rants on Philly Fans... Those Filthy Animals

By now, I'm sure everyone has seen the pictures/video of that kid getting tased at the Phillies game the other day. Here's CSNNE's Michael Felger's take on the incident, and on Philly fans in general. Both hilarious and absolutely true. Philly fans are a disgrace to humanity.

Bruins Get 2nd Pick in NHL Draft

Finally, some good news and a little luck for the Bruins. Last night, the Bruins secured the 2nd pick in the upcoming NHL draft. (Thank you Phil Kessel and Toronto for sucking). There are 2 "can't miss" prospects in the draft this year, Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin, which means the Bruins will grab whichever one Edmonton (1st pick) leaves behind. Most likely, the Bruins will get Taylor Hall as Edmonton is in desperate need of a center like Seguin. Hall is a goal-scoring winger, which is a bigger need for the Bruins, as many of our wingers can't put the puck in the net. Blake Wheeler and Michael Ryder, I'm looking at you.

In other good news for the Bruins (yes there's more, believe it or not), GM Peter Chiarelli said that there is a slight chance that Marc Savard could play in Round 2 if the B's make it past the Sabres. It's unlikely that Savard's return would make any difference, since the Bruins will probably get crushed by whoever they play in Round 2, but this is an indication that Savard is at least feeling a little better.

Remember These Bruins?

Remember these Bruins? You should, as this took place only a year ago. It is absolutely baffling that the Bruins have lost so much heart and guts since last season. In this game against the Stars in November 2008, the Bruins were victims of multiple dirty hits, and they had each others' back every time. Check the 5:40 mark of this clip. Notice who the first person into the scrum was? Yup, Marc Savard. If I were him, I would be absolutely livid after last night's gutless performance. Although he probably wasn't allowed to watch the game, since he is still experiencing headaches and sensitivity to light after Matt Cooke's dirty hit. Sure, I'll give Shawn Thornton some credit for fighting Cooke last night, but that's Thornton's job anyway. He gets in a fight every other night. Where were the rest of the Bruins? Where was so-called tough guy Milan Lucic? Why didn't someone take a run at Sidney Crosby? Why was Cooke allowed to skate around the rest of the game without a worry in the world? Last night was a pathetic display by the Bruins. Not only did they lose the game, but they lost their pride as well. If they couldn't get up to play last night, then they don't deserve the playoffs. And even if they do make it, it is clear that they don't have what it takes to win.

The Bruins Better Sack Up Tonight

BOSTON -- Coach Claude Julien made it clear after the morning skate that fans should not expect any costly retribution Thursday night when the Bruins face the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It will be the first meeting between the teams since March 7, when Matt Cooke laid a blindside hit on Marc Savard, which resulted in a Grade 2 concussion that likely ended Savard's season.

"It's going to be a hockey game, guys," Shawn Thornton said. "You guys can keep building it up all you want, but it's going to be the same old, same old. It's going to be just another game. We need the two points and that's our focus."

If the so-called retribution doesn't occur tonight, Bruins players didn't sound too concerned with a negative response from fans.

"I've been here for three years. As far as I'm concerned, I've done my job here for three years," Thornton said. "The fans have been nothing but great to me, and to our team. I know what the expectations are, but it's not like it was last year when we had a 20-point cushion going into the last few games, so we need the two points. We're scraping for a playoff spot. As upset as [the fans] would be if they don't see bloodshed, I think they'll be more upset if we don't make the playoffs. At the end of the day, that's a bigger problem."

So, the Bruins are going with the philosophy that the 2 points are more important than retaliating for Matt Cooke’s cheap shot on Marc Savard. And realistically, that’s how they should be thinking. Every game is important as the Bruins are barely hanging on to the 8th and final playoff seed in the East. However, if the Bruins think that the fans will be happy if they beat Pittsburgh tonight, but fail to retaliate, they are sorely mistaken. Fans want to see the B’s go after Sidney Crosby, or Matt Cooke writhing on the ice in pain, or preferably both. According to an ESPN.com poll, 66 percent of fans would rather have the Bruins retaliate and lose the game, rather than win and not retaliate.

NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell will be attending the game tonight. Campbell could have perhaps prevented some of this tension if he did what was right and suspended Cooke (who is a repeat offender when it comes to dirty hits) in the first place. However, Campbell fucked up the whole situation, and now he might have a bigger problem on his hands after tonight. The NHL has also assigned its most experienced group of referees to the game tonight.

Hopefully, all this pregame talk from the Bruins is just for show, because if they don’t go after someone on the Penguins, I’m disowning them (with all the authority that I have). It’s time for the Bruins to sack up and play old school Boston hockey, where they play tough and physical and stick up for their teammates. As far as I see it, if the Bruins don’t try to get some retribution tonight, then it indicates that they don’t have what it takes to win in the playoffs anyway. Tonight, the whole league will be watching, and it is a chance for the Bruins to send a message, not only to the Penguins, but to the entire NHL. The Bruins need to show that they can play tough, inspired hockey, and prove to their fans and their opponents that they actually do have a little heart.

Don Cherry on Matt Cooke

One of the most respected men in the sport of hockey on that pussy Matt Cooke. Don Cherry puts it so perfectly I don't even need to vent my frustration.
